Tips to Hanging Your Banner
Did you know that banners are:
- great for short-term advertising,
- inexpensive,
- portable and re-usable?
A banner is a great way to advertise your sale, grand opening or event at your business or charitable organization. Banners give you lots of bang for the buck!
At ICSigns, we don’t charge extra for printing your banner in 4-colour process for stunning picture-quality images!
All you have to do is send us your artwork and we’ll do the rest.
Now once you’ve made the investment, wouldn’t you like to make sure your banner lasts as long as possible? Here are three rules to hanging banners so that they survive in all kinds of weather.
1. Keep it tight
2. Keep it tight
3. Keep it tight
A loose banner will flog in the wind, destroying the internal fabric that gives it strength. How to keep it tight? The best location for a banner is flat on a wall or fence. This protects it from the wind on at least one side and greatly reduces the stress from cross winds. Be sure to secure it at every grommet. If the banner is to be tied between two posts or trees or other support, lace the top and bottom ropes through every grommet. Tie them off at each end grommet so that the banner is tight when the ropes are pulled tight. Then tie the ropes to the posts and pull them as tight as possible with the ropes parallel. Splayed ropes will put extra stress on the corners of the banner and greatly shorten it’s life.
If you can, install aircraft cable between the posts, pulled tight, at the upper and lower extremities of the banner and attach the banner to the cables. Then pull the banner tight using ropes on each end. This will give you the best support between posts. Aircraft cable is available at most hardware stores in several sizes. Contact us if you need help in selecting the correct size for your banner. Better still, let us do the installation for you.
Here is another example of a banner that has been properly fastened even to a portable device.
Banners can be an integral part of your marketing strategy and remember, it pays to market in a recession!
In a well-known study of U.S. recessions, McGraw-Hill Research analyzed 600 companies from 1980-1985. The results showed that business-to-business firms that maintained or increased their advertising expenditures during the 1981-1982 recession averaged significantly higher sales growth, both during the recession and for the following three years, than those that eliminated or decreased advertising. By 1985, sales of companies that were aggressive recession advertisers had risen 256% over those that didn’t keep up their advertising (Integrated Resource Management).
